I used to hate sooo much,… when i have to stand or walking in crowded of peoples. I felt so awkward. I usually try to avoid a situation that makes me inconvenient. A situation that might peoples watched or even noticing me. Thats way i’m usually walk with head down and walk straightly. My friends sometime called me being indifferent and mysterious. I knew, i’m not intend for being snooty or something, i just felt so shy and afraid people watching me for some reasons. But, as the time goes by, i began to change (but not in a drastically way, i supposed
). When i’m entrance a new environments, its really changes me. My new office, while i have to brave my self working with task and cooperates with peoples, or my new classes at my post-graduates, while i’m often have to stand giving my class presentation in front of my Professor and classmates. It does really testing and challenging me. Challenge my great weakness, i think. A new environment, demands and peoples does really helping me, changes me, and grew me up.
Social phobia, thats what i’m gonna talking about. What i have describe above, not intend to considered me as a social phobia he he. Butttt, in some degree my overwhelmingly anxious for being shy and watched by peoples, that might be a symptoms of a social phobia he he. I think it’s natural when we have self-conscious, nervous, or shy in front of peoples at an situation, right?. But if you have to face it constantly in every day of your life?. o. gees…that was very devastating, you know. Anyone can surely have a racing heart, shyness, sweating, embarrass, trembling, or fluttering stomach when we have to deal with others or something, but what if your anxiety and self-conscious become extreme?. I thoughts it can be ruining our life…
Social phobia it self can be define as one of type anxiety problem. People with social phobia have an extreme feelings of shyness and self-consciousness, and also feels uncomfortable if they have to deal or confront peoples or everyday social situations, they more likely to avoid. People with social phobia usually just interact with family and a few close friends. But when they have to meet new people, talking in front of others, or speaking in public, they cant hardly stand. Being socially anxious makes them have a strong fear of being watched and judged by others. they constantly fear and feel embarrass. They tends to get extremely worried for days or weeks before a situation coming in. Their extreme fear and anxiety become so severe, and drive in to difficulties when they have to deal with work, school, office and other ordinary activities.
Social phobia affects about 15 million American adults and affects women and men in equal numbers. People with social phobia often have other anxiety disorders and/or depression as well.
The key element of the disorder is extreme anxiety about being judged by others or behaving in a way that might cause embarrassment or ridicule.
It would be awful if we have to feel anxiety in our daily life, right?. So, how to overcome this kind of phobic.
- Try to be more confident, what ever you might do or situation.
- Try to feel comfortable or natural in every condition.
- Try to think that your thoughts and fears are basically exaggerated and irrational.
- Try to think that that others are really not critically judging or evaluating or even noticing us.
- Try to understand that people are not trying to embarrass or humiliate us.
- Try to share and discussed our anxiety problem with our close person or friends.
- A short-term therapy, can be helpful if may needed. its depending on the severity of the condition
